COVID-19 Update & Precautions
Dear First Presbyterian Family,
Many businesses and organizations are beginning to reopen their doors in a new, careful ways. Similarly, the Session and Staff of First Presbyterian Church are planning to reopen the church in ways that are consistent with the Governor’s Executive Order recommending best practices for religious services.
The Session has approved resuming in-person worship. Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order, those who are most at risk from the virus, the medically fragile, elderly, and those not feeling well, should continue to worship from home.
In order to follow the Governor’s Executive Order and help keep members safe, we will follow new procedures in worship:
Please wear a mask (adults and children 4 years and older). The church will provide face masks for those who do not have one.
The church pews, doors and bathrooms will be carefully cleaned before each service.
Worshipers will enter the church ONLY through the front doors on First Avenue, on the left or on the right. The doors will be open at 10:30am. The handicap ramp will be available for use.
Ushers will control entry to the church. Ushers will check the temperature, (100.4 is our “turn away number”), give hand sanitizer and record the name of each person attending (for tracing if necessary) and escort each family group to seats that have been selected to be distant from other worshipers.
We will not sing hymns in church. A small choir of CSU students will sing the hymns for us during the service. We ask you to focus and ponder on the words without singing.
Ushers will leave one interior door from the Sanctuary to the rest of the church for those worshipers who need to visit the rest room. Please use the restrooms by the gym.
Normal human contact that we are used to in church like hugging and handshakes is to be avoided during this time. Please practice social distancing at all times.
At the end of the service, after the postlude, the ushers will walk down the aisle to escort worshipers out of the church, one party at a time. Please be patient and wait for the usher to escort you out of the church.
Worship will feel different than before COVID-19. Even so, we are excited about returning to worship together at FPC. For those of you who are able to attend safely, we will be glad to see you at church! For everyone else, we will still be one family connected through the power of the Holy Spirit!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
