Children’s Programs
Welcome to FPC Kids! The birth – 5th grade children’s ministry of First Presbyterian Church. We value every child as a special gift from God and it is our calling to care for, love, and nurture children. We strive to support the family in their desire to stay connected and grow as a community of believers. We want to partner with parents in equipping them to raise their children to grow in their love of the Lord and His son Jesus Christ.
Sunday Morning Children's Church
Children are always welcome in worship, as we believe there is no better place for a child to learn what it means to be part of the worshipping community. A nursery is available for infants and toddlers, if that is more preferable for your family. During the 11:00 Sunday service, children are invited up front for the “children’s sermon,” then children PreK4 through second grade are invited to attend Children’s Church.
Using a Montessori model informed by Godly Play, children will sing, hear stories from the Bible, and explore other faith practices that will nurture their spiritual growth.
Nursery Care
Childcare for infants 6 weeks old through Pre-K is provided during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service, and from 5:00-6:00 p.m. during our Sunday Night Soul Feast (SNSF). Professional childcare workers will be waiting to greet you and your child and will keep them safe while you attend worship and classes.
All parents will be asked to sign in their child and provide a cell phone number (please have your phone on vibrate during worship) so that we can reach you if necessary.
Preschool Music Explorers is a music class for ages 3 to 5 (and older siblings if they would like to join), featuring exploration of music reading, music technology, instruments, composers, world music, dance, sacred and secular children’s songs, and lots and lots of fun.
Led by Mr. Andrew, a teacher with over a decade of preschool music
experience, we discover all aspects of music through a child guided, centers based approach. Join us in the Children’s Choir Room from 5:15-6:00 each Wednesday.
Potty training is not a requirement and the class is free. Parents are invited to participate in the Hopeful Family Class that meets at the same time.
FPC Kids
The children meet with our Director of Educational Ministries, Vickie Dieth, and children’s ministry volunteers to explore what it means to be a child of God. And, since you can’t do that without serving others, growing in faith, and laughing a lot, we’ll do a good bit of each!
Vacation Bible School
A week-long, exciting summer program to learn and grow in faith. Children ages 4 through those entering 5th grade in Fall 2022 are invited to a week full of fun characters, and opportunities to explore Jesus’ power and learn about His faithfulness.
First Presbyterian Day School
First Presbyterian Day School Website
The Day School is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church. Our goal is to provide a Christian atmosphere in which each child will grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
First Presbyterian Church Day School offers traditional education programs for children 8 weeks through 4 years, and Montessori programs for children ages 3 through Kindergarten.
These programs are designed to give each child the age-appropriate experience he or she needs in a Christian environment surrounded with love, to develop satisfying relationships, increase awareness and knowledge about the world, to grow in self-understanding, and to use his or her developing powers to communicate and think.
